Job description: About the Opportunity

  • Enter cash receipts and update A/R invoicing as required
  • Perform Accounts Payable processing invoices, receipts, ensuring accuracy
  • Prepare bank reconciliation report to ensure that the bank statements reconcile with DSI and all the direct bank payments, receipts and withdrawals, and cleared and outstanding cheques are all accounted for in DSI
  • Responsible for the month-end close process and running month-end reports as per schedule
  • Maintaining Inventory report and adjusting Inventory and Job cost when required
  • Run reports in preparation for CO physical count including inactivity, bin location check, inventory value and make any necessary inventory adjustments prior to year-end
  • Maintaining G/L spreadsheets for payroll journal entry processing
  • Assisting the controller with G/L duties
  • Generate reports in Excel
  • Developing programs and reports in MS Access as per users’ specifications

General Tasks

  • Carry out task or duties which may reasonably be expected to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the Accounts department
  • Due to accounting deadlines, annual leave will be restricted to times outside of out busy periods. These primarily occur at month end and year end (31st March)

About You

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general accounting position
  • University / College degree in Accounting or Diploma
  • Experience with MS Office and Excel, knowledge of Access a plus and strong ability to learn new software
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and concepts
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to meet deadlines and handle changing priorities
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strive to achieve the optimal results in every field
  • Flexibility to take on new and varied tasks and to help out wherever necessary
  • Self-motivation, enthusiastic team player with a strong work ethic
  • Good oral and written communication skills
