Job description: The Andersen group on Genetic Innovation at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, invites applications for an Academic employee position.The successful candidate will work with our group to execute advanced experimental work in support of various research projects aiming to uncover new molecular concepts within the broader research area of in genome regulation and germline biology of Drosophila.Throughout the employment the candidate will be supported in further developing technical as well as analytical competences.Expected start date and duration of employment This is a 5–year position from August 15th 2025 or as soon as possible for a fixed-term to end on August 14th 2030.Job descriptionThe main tasks of the job will be to support on-going research by performing experimental work and data analyses. The applied methods will centre on both in vivo animal models and cell culture systems, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing, chemical genetics for time-resolved protein depletion, high-resolution microscopy, interaction proteomics and high-throughput sequencing for transcriptomic and genomic bioinformatic analyses.Qualifications and traits of the ideal candidate

  • A completed or nearly completed PhD degree in a relevant field, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular evolution or bioinformatics.
  • Experience with Drosophila genetics and Fluorescence assisted cell sorting (FACS) is a strong advantage
  • Deep scientific curiosity, creative aptitude and independent, positive drive
  • Strong communication (English) and collaboration skills

Experience with high-throughput data analyses, transcriptome profiling, genome editing, genetic screening technology, proteomics or germline biology are all advantageous.Personal qualifications We work as a highly integrated team. A proven track-record of productive teamwork and a strong reciprocal fit with the current team members is therefore important.Who we are/ The departmentThe AC-TAP will be affiliated to the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas of Plant Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, RNA Biology and Innovation, Protein Science, Cellular Health, Intervention and Nutrition. There are currently 75 full time scientific staff and 95 PhD students.
