This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.Community Correctional Services (CCS) contributes to the safety of the community by applying practices that reduce reoffending and connect individuals to programs, services and community. CCS provides management of individuals on court orders, people who have committed serious sex offences on post sentence supervision and prisoners on parole.About the role:The Aboriginal Court Assessment & Prosecutions Service (CAPS) Officer position provides a dual specialist function in CCS service provision at the Courts. As a CAPS Officer the position is responsible for supporting the operation of the Court Assessment and Prosecutions Service (CAPS), including providing high quality evidence-based advice to the Koori Court division of the Magistrates’ and County Courts to assist in the sentencing process. Aboriginal CAPS Officers will also be required to work within mainstream court divisions of the Magistrates’ and County Courts when the Koori Court division is not sitting.The position may also provide support to Aboriginal participants involved in the Melbourne Drug Court. This includes suitability assessment for Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders (DATO) and provision of case management support to Aboriginal program participants.You will be required to adhere to local or regional rostering arrangements and other staffing management practices as directed.About you:
