About the Role
We currently have two opportunities for Academic Integrity Investigations Officers to join our newly created Academic Integrity Unit within the Education and Quality Services department at Swinburne.In this role, you will support the Manager, Academic Integrity with implementing a university-wide academic integrity framework, contribute to the continuous improvement of academic integrity policies and processes, and be responsible for investigating complex academic misconduct breaches. You will conduct investigations in a fair, impartial and timely manner and provide specialist advice to School Academic Integrity Advisers, Authorised Officers and Unit Convenors regarding the effective prevention and detection of academic misconduct. You will be responsible for the promotion of Swinburne’s educative approach to academic integrity.This position is responsible for the coordination and administration of academic misconduct student meetings and will also provide administrative support to the Academic Integrity Working Group, including the preparation of high quality and timely agendas, minutes and meeting papers and will help to build new and productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across the University.About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in investigating student academic misconduct matters, including detection of outsourced assessments and familiarity with approaches to establish authorship of documents using metadata or other investigative techniques and/or detection technology including Turnitin Authorship Report.
  • Proven experience in interpreting, applying, and implementing policies, procedures and processes in a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current threats to academic integrity including issues surrounding the use of generative AI (genAI) tools.
  • Highly developed communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to collate evidence for use in student academic misconduct meetings.
  • High-level digital literacy and analytical skills with the ability to review information from a variety of sources and platforms and use software, data management systems and database applications proficiently. Experience with Zoom and student management systems is preferred.

Qualifications

  • A degree with relevant experience working in a higher education setting; or extensive experience and specialist expertise working in administrative settings; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
